Official Candidate Bio

Lateresa “LA” Jones

Lateresa “LA” Jones is a wife, mother, grandmother, business owner, nationally recognized child advocate, and a qualified Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, Florida's 20th District, running in the August 18 Republican primary. Guided by faith, resilience, and conservative principles, she is committed to protecting families and strengthening communities too often overlooked.

The Florida Division of Elections lists Jones as Qualified, with Date Qualified: June 11, 2026.

A survivor-advocate and powerful public speaker, Jones works with RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) to raise awareness, support survivors, and advance policies that prioritize victims and hold perpetrators accountable. She is also the Founder of Grandmas for the Generations, a grassroots organization mobilizing families to defend children and preserve core values for the next generation.

A respected conservative activist, Jones has led minority outreach efforts nationwide and is a proud member of Governor Ron DeSantis’ Faith & Community Initiative. She stands as a bold voice for children, families, and conservative values — driven by purpose, conviction, and service.

Why Lateresa

Some politicians talk about protecting families. Lateresa shelters them.

Before she ever ran for anything, Lateresa was already doing the work. She founded and runs a shared-living home for mothers and survivors of trafficking and abuse — a safe place to rebuild a life. That's not a campaign promise; it's how she lives.

Some discover “child safety” at election time. For Lateresa it's the fight of her life — gentle with the vulnerable, and relentless against anyone who would harm a child. She'll bring that same heart to Washington.

Clean hands. Fierce heart.

The Tale of Two Countries

Oriente, Cuba and Detroit, Michigan

Lateresa was raised on the east side of Detroit. Her husband, Richard, was born and raised under communism in Oriente, Cuba. Two decades of conversations across that divide — between a country that promised freedom and one that took it away — became a conviction she now carries to Washington.

Together they put that story into a book: The Tale of Two Countries — two places, parallel journeys, one story of people, pride, and resilience.

Available June 2, 2026.

The Movement

She Built Her Own Army

Lateresa Jones didn't wait to be invited into the fight for children. She built her own army — Grandmas for the Generations — because grandmothers have always been the ones holding families together when everything else falls apart.

The Insider

Inside the System, Fighting for Change

As a member of Governor Ron DeSantis’ Faith & Community Initiative, Lateresa works daily in the intersection of government, faith, and vulnerable communities. She doesn't just talk about the system — she operates inside it, fights inside it, and now she's taking that fight to Washington.

The Survivor

Everything She Fights For Is Personal

She organized grassroots support for the Violence Against Women Act in 1994. That wasn't a political calculation. It was personal. Everything she has fought for has been personal.

The Voice

She Showed Up Before the Cameras

The real grind is lonely. No crowds. No applause. Just you, the work, and the vision. South Florida deserves someone who showed up before there were cameras — and will show up long after they're gone.

Why I'm Running

South Florida deserves a representative who fights for families, not politics. I've spent my life protecting children, empowering grandparents, and building faith-based coalitions that actually change lives.

I want to take that fight to Washington — with clean hands and a full heart. Our communities deserve someone who will stand up for parental rights and never stop fighting for our children's future.

South Florida is my home, and its people are my family. I'm asking for your support to be your voice in Congress.

"You can get another job, but you can't get childhood back. That's why I'm fighting for our children's future."
